MACON, GA - For the fourth consecutive year, Wesleyan College has been voted Best College/University in Middle Georgia in The Telegraph’s Best of Middle Georgia awards – extending a four-year run of recognition from the community Wesleyan has called home since 1836.

More than 413,000 votes were cast across this year’s Best of Middle Georgia competition, reflecting broad participation from throughout the region.

For students and families weighing where to attend college, the recognition comes at a time when Wesleyan is investing heavily in what students experience here: personal attention, career preparation, leadership development, campus life and new opportunities to compete.

“What I love about this award is who chose it: our own community,” said Wesleyan College President Meaghan Blight. “Middle Georgia knows Wesleyan up close. They meet our students, work alongside our interns, attend our events, cheer for our teams, and partner with us throughout Macon. Four years in a row tells us people see the value of a college where students are known by name, expected to lead and prepared to leave with real experiences already on their resume. That is the Wesleyan difference we intend to keep earning.”

Wesleyan’s fourth consecutive Best of Middle Georgia recognition comes alongside continued enrollment growth and Wesleyan’s intentional investments designed to make the student experience more personal, career-connected and distinctive.

That personal experience begins in the classroom. Most Wesleyan classes have fewer than 20 students and are taught by professors, not teaching assistants, creating an environment where students are known as individuals and faculty relationships can extend well beyond a single course. Career preparation is equally intentional: 100% of Wesleyan students graduate with at least one resume-building paid internship, research or study abroad opportunity, with additional opportunities in entrepreneurship and leadership designed to help them connect what they learn in college to what they want to do next.

And, the Creating Equal Opportunities (CEO) Leadership Institute gives participating students the chance to begin that professional development as early as their first year through mentorship, workshops, career preparation, and hands-on leadership experiences. Wesleyan’s Leadership Lab in downtown Macon further connects students and the College with businesses, organizations, professionals, and community partners throughout the region.

At the same time, Wesleyan is making significant investments in access and the student experience through SHE WILL: the $61 million Campaign for Wesleyan College, supporting scholarships, faculty, student life, residence halls and campus facilities.

Wesleyan is expanding the ways students can find their place on campus through athletics as well. With its move to the NAIA, the College added flag football, competitive cheer and wrestling for Fall 2026 and opened new opportunities for eligible student-athletes to receive athletic scholarships. Rugby is planned for Fall 2027, joining established programs in basketball, soccer, softball, volleyball, beach volleyball and club ice hockey.

“For students in Middle Georgia, a highly personal college experience does not have to mean going far from home,” Blight said. “You can be challenged, supported, connected to people who know what you want to become, and build your resume before you graduate - right here in Macon.”
