A new chapter in Wesleyan Athletics is taking shape.
During the 2027–2028 academic year, Wesleyan will field its inaugural rugby team, creating another opportunity for student-athletes to compete and grow at Wesleyan.
Leading the program is Head Coach Chris Parks, who brings more than 20 years of rugby experience and a passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the pitch.
Parks is building Wesleyan Rugby from the ground up with a focus on resilience, teamwork, discipline and competitiveness, qualities he believes align naturally with the Wesleyan experience.
“Rugby is a sport that demands resilience and absolute teamwork — qualities that perfectly align with the spirit of this institution,” Parks said. “I look forward to building a fiercely competitive culture and empowering these student-athletes to achieve excellence on the pitch and in life.”
For the student-athletes who make up Wesleyan’s first rugby team, the opportunity goes beyond competition. They’ll have the chance to help set the standard, establish new traditions and leave their mark on a program from its very beginning.
Hear from Coach Parks about his vision for Wesleyan Rugby and what he’s looking forward to as he builds the College’s inaugural team.
