Following a four year hiatus, the Wesleyan College athletic department has reinstituted the sport of cross country for the 2017 season. The Wolves will compete in six events over the course of the fall, including the Inaugural Middle Georgia State Cross Country Meet at the Premier Cross Country Course in Macon.
Coaching the Wolves this season is Alex Kosicki, who also serves as Wesleyan's head tennis coach. "With nine women on the team, Wesleyan cross country is back," remarked an eager Kosicki. "I'm excited for our women, some of whom are seniors, to have this opportunity to experience being a part of a team at Wesleyan with the addition of cross country this year. We have a great group that represents all aspects of life on campus, and I'm looking forward to working with them and seeing their results improve with each meet."
The Wolves will be led on the course by senior Stephanie Artola and juniors Whitney Shiver and Taylor Thigpen, and everyone will need to keep an eye out for the lone freshman on the squad, Tyler Walker.
Wesleyan opens its 2017 campaign at the Georgia NCAA Division III Cross Country Invitational in Mount Berry, GA, this Friday, September, 1, at 7:15pm.
