Wesleyan College Introduces Adam Carr to Lead the Next Chapter of the Leadership Lab

MACON, GA — Building on Wesleyan’s commitment to serving both students and the broader Middle Georgia community, the College has appointed Adam Carr as the new Director of the Leadership Lab.  

     A Middle Georgia native, Carr brings nearly two decades of experience spanning education, nonprofit leadership, theatre, film, and community collaboration. Most recently serving as Director of Theatre Arts at Stratford Academy, he has built a reputation for creating meaningful educational experiences, cultivating partnerships, and helping individuals develop the confidence and skills needed to succeed. 

     His appointment signals Wesleyan College’s continued commitment to ensuring the Leadership Lab evolves alongside the changing needs of Macon and Middle Georgia.

     “Adam understands that leadership begins with relationships,” said Wesleyan College President Meaghan Blight. “His ability to bring people together, listen to community needs, and create meaningful learning experiences makes him the ideal person to lead the Leadership Lab into its next chapter. As Wesleyan continues strengthening our connection to Downtown Macon and expanding our impact beyond our Forsyth Road campus, Adam’s passion for serving others will help ensure the Leadership Lab remains a place where our community comes together.”

     Throughout his career, Carr has served in leadership roles across education, theater, media, and nonprofit organizations. His professional background reflects a consistent focus on helping others grow through mentorship, collaboration, and experiential learning.

     For Carr, joining Wesleyan represents more than a new position; it’s an opportunity to invest in the community he calls home.

     “I’m excited to help create a Leadership Lab that truly serves the community,” Carr said.  “The best ideas come from listening first. My goal is to build relationships across Macon, learn where the needs exist, and create opportunities that help people grow as leaders, build confidence, and connect. Wesleyan has already shown me what a welcoming, collaborative community looks like, and I’m looking forward to extending that spirit throughout the Leadership Lab.”

     While the Leadership Lab will continue offering many of the experiences the community has come to know and love, Carr said the focus moving forward is not to reinvent the space but to thoughtfully build upon its current forward momentum.

     “The Leadership Lab is bringing new energy while staying true to its purpose,” he said.  “We want to strengthen connections, support our community, and continue creating experiences that inspire leadership in meaningful ways.”

   Carr holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from Valdosta State University as well as a Master of Education in Educational Technology Leadership from Lamar University.  When he’s not at the Leadership Lab, Adam enjoys exploring Macon’s vibrant arts and music scene, volunteering at community events, and spending time with his wife, Katy, and their eight-year-old daughter, Caroline.
