Wesleyan College Celebrates the Holiday Season Through Multi-Level Programming

With the Holiday season rapidly approaching, Wesleyan is thrilled to announce holiday celebrations that reflect its spirited community’s diversity. This year, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating a season that honors our campus while sharing our unique traditions.

At Wesleyan, the holidays are a time to come together and recognize the many cultural and spiritual practices that make the College’s community a home.

This year’s celebrations are rooted in Wesleyan’s mission to advance equity in all aspects of campus life. It is also a reflection of the College as a community–a celebration of the beauty that diversity brings and a commitment to making everyone feel seen and valued.

Celebratory festivities on campus began Wednesday, Dec. 4 with Wesleyan’s annual Holiday Banquet, with faculty and staff hosting students for dinner and fellowship.

“The Holiday Banquet is always one of my favorite events of the year,” Wesleyan director of Student Affairs Kara Sowell said. “Having the opportunity to serve our students and celebrate their accomplishments across the semester is something that our staff and faculty truly treasure.”

Throughout the week leading up to the student break, Wesleyan College Chief of Campus Public Safety Jay Bartlett encouraged students to connect with officers through his annual T.V. and gift basket raffle; while officer engagement is important, Bartlett says that this time of year holds a special place in his heart.

“The holidays mean to me a time for family and friends and to enjoy life and give thanks for everything we have,” Bartlett said.

While on-campus celebrations draw to a conclusion with Bartlett’s raffle drawing on Friday, Dec. 6, Wesleyan’s holiday festivities continue in the community throughout the remainder of the month.

On December’s downtown Macon “First Friday,” a group of Wesleyan students will provide sounds of the season at the College’s downtown Leadership Lab located on Cherry St. Music begins at 6 PM with free admission, light refreshments and free crafts.

Drawing the conclusion of campus wide celebration is Wesleyan’s participation in the annual downtown Macon Christmas Parade, beginning on Cherry St. and working its way through the downtown area. The parade will begin at 4 PM EST on Sunday, Dec. 15.
