The Wesleyan College Arboretum* in Macon, Georgia has joined with four other local arboreta and botanical gardens to form the Central Georgia Arboretum and Botanical Garden Association, a cooperative group for sharing educational and recreational programing, community announcements and publicity, and member benefits. The founding organizations are the Lockerly Arboretum in Milledgeville, Juhan-Moore Arboretum in Gray, Macon Museum of Arts and Sciences Sweetgum Trail in Macon, Wesleyan College Arboretum in Macon, and Massee Lane Gardens in Fort Valley.
Each founding member institution brings unique and complementary resources to this
association, including distinct mission statements, varied physical grounds and facilities,
extensive staff expertise, diverse plant collections, national professional accreditations, and
local community affiliations. We share our common concern for promoting sustainability,
ecological restoration, botanical diversity, and environmental justice, as well as our commitment to public education and engagement with nature in the central Georgia region.
More About The Wesleyan College Arboretum
Established in 1996, the Wesleyan College Arboretum comprises 104 acres of mixed pine and hardwood forest and lies within the boundaries of Wesleyan’s suburban Rivoli campus. More than three miles of trails, open to the public during daylight hours, interlace the forest and provide year-round opportunities for strolling, hiking, and cross-country running. Community programming includes Music in the Arb cabin concerts, guided walking tours, bird walks, and the annual Sustainability and Environmental Advocacy Colloquium.
