Calling all creatives! The Wesleyan Literary and Arts Journal is returning to campus after a three-year hiatus, ready to showcase all of the incredible work the Wesleyan community creates.
Abbi Adams and Muniza Khan are at the forefront of the revitalization, working as the managing editors of the journal. When asked what made them want to revive this project, Khan referred back to her inspiration.
“I was very inspired by what it held for the students who were submitting their work,” Khan said.
The journal will be published as a complete physical edition along with their Instagram account. “It’s almost honorary, you get something of your own,” Khan said.
They are not only seeking submissions from Art and English majors.
“Anybody who wants to submit anything, we are so welcome to take it,” Adams said.
The journal aims to create a comfortable space for students to share the work they are passionate about and proud of.
Interested in the journal but unsure about your writing skills? Don't sweat it! The managing editors are here to collaborate with you and transform your pieces into something extraordinary. Plus, if you prefer to keep your identity a secret, you can choose to publish anonymously. No student should feel ashamed to share their talents with the world.
“It really is so personalized to what the students want it to be,” Adams said.
The journal is currently on the lookout for photographers! Send in your favorite pictures from around campus or even treasures from your photography class. The board will also be searching for artists and designers to enter for a chance to create the cover for the first edition of the journal.
“We're really just excited about getting started doing [whatever it takes to] have all of our students comfortable on campus,” Adams said.
We’re proud of our wolves for creating spaces on campus for creative exploration no matter their major! Want to get involved? Follow the journal on Instagram at @weslitandart on Instagram and keep an eye out for the publication in March!
