WESLEYAN’S CLASS OF 2023: SECOND LARGEST IN 17 YEARS

Wesleyan College welcomed her second largest first-year class since 2001 and the second largest class since 1976 with over 130 first-year students and an additional 40 transfer students. This enrollment number is second only to fall 2018’s first-year class of 150 new first-years and 60 transfers.

“It is quite an accomplishment for our team to turn enrollment numbers around to this extent two years in a row. The entire Wesleyan community is focused on student recruitment and retention, and the numbers prove it’s a plan that’s working. I’m hopeful the trend will continue,” said Vice President for Enrollment Clint Hobbs.

90% of this first-year class is from Georgia, with over 40% hailing from the Middle Georgia area. The top majors of interest for this first-year class are pre-nursing, biology, psychology, and early childhood education.

Wesleyan’s new students and families were welcomed to campus for PACK Weekend which kicked off with Move-In Day on August 16th. During this weekend, Orientation Leaders helped new students to engage with their new classmates, get to know faculty and staff, and learn how to navigate campus and academic life.

The Matriculation Ceremony was also held on Friday, August 16. During this ceremony, new students received their Wesleyan pin, signed the honor code, and officially began their academic career at Wesleyan. A campus-wide picnic was held after the ceremony for students and their families, faculty, and staff.
