Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) continued its stride for associate degree credit transfer this week by signing its first articulation agreement with Wesleyan College. The agreement designates pathways for CGTC’s new General Studies associate degree into four-year programs at Wesleyan.

Articulation agreements allow students to benefit from the seamless transfer of credit earned at one institution into programs at another, often reducing cost and encouraging further pursuit of higher education, personal growth, and career advancement.

Wesleyan’s rapport and position in the community made the institution a fitting target for an agreement by CGTC’s Academic Affairs division.

“The General Studies articulation marks our first institutional-level transfer agreement with Wesleyan,” said Dr. Amy Holloway, vice president for Academic Affairs at CGTC. “The College has partnered with Wesleyan on several global initiatives, but this agreement brings these opportunities closer to home.”

“These agreements help provide students affordable access to higher education as early as high school through dual enrollment without leaving their community. Given Wesleyan's unique history, mission, and baccalaureate programs, we are pleased to provide a pathway for CGTC graduates to continue their education as Wesleyan women.”

Students eligible for transfer will have completed the A.S. in General Studies with good academic standing and meet the appropriate admissions requirements to attend Wesleyan for undergraduate studies. A minimum of a C or above will be required for any course designated for transfer.

During the signing, Dr. Ivan H. Allen, president of CGTC, and Dr. Vivia L. Fowler, president of Wesleyan College credited their respective academic affairs divisions for making this agreement come to life.

Wesleyan College President Dr. Vivia Fowler said, "We are excited to strengthen our partnership between Wesleyan College and Central Georgia Technical College to provide pathways for CGTC students to matriculate to Wesleyan College. It’s good to know that these talented women will remain in Middle Georgia to complete their education and contribute to our community in a variety of ways."
