Wesleyan introduces 100% online degree program

For 182 years, Wesleyan College has offered women an academically challenging and relevant liberal arts education, preparing them to do extraordinary things in their professions and in service to their communities. From the first women who attended classes on the original downtown campus to the graduates of 2018 who studied on the Rivoli campus, Wesleyan students have learned from their professors in traditional classroom settings.

To meet the needs of a changing society, Wesleyan has introduced a new online degree program that provides working women the flexibility, convenience, and affordability they need to earn a degree in business or accounting. Students who had been attending evening classes on campus are now classified as online program students and can study whenever and wherever they choose. The first cohort of online degree students recruited for the new program are enrolling for spring.

"Wesleyan online is designed with the 21st-century-woman’s needs and goals in mind. We know getting to campus for classes can be a big challenge for women who are busy working and caregiving. Our new online degree program enables us to draw the Wesleyan circle wider, in support of women who give so much of themselves in all other areas of their lives," said Director of Online Learning & Assistant Professor of English Laura Lease.

With a curriculum rooted in the liberal arts and taught by the same faculty who lead our on-campus classes, online degree courses are eight weeks in length and offered in five sessions a year so students can attend full- or part-time. Online students receive the same support services as traditional undergraduate students, including, a dedicated academic advisor, tutoring and learning support from the Academic Resource Center, personalized career guidance from the Center for Career Development, and full access to Wesleyan’s electronic library with nearly limitless research opportunities.

About Wesleyan College

Wesleyan draws a wonderfully eclectic mix of women – about 700 in all – from across the United States and more than twenty countries, bringing to campus a multitude of backgrounds and ethnicities. Wesleyan students choose to study here because they want to test their limits. The bar is set high because our students demand it. First for Women isn’t just a claim to fame - it’s a philosophy that explains why Wesleyan women continue to make history today.  Read More
