Wesleyan is pleased to announce campus dining services will now be provided by Metz Culinary Management. Metz is a privately owned and managed company who excels at serving institutions with populations of 300 – 800 people. Metz prides itself on serving a variety of options designed for health and taste-conscious students.
Knowing that today’s student population has an appetite that includes ethnic tastes, religious and ethical considerations, and nutritional concerns, Metz will help the College develop menu options that better serve our students, faculty, and staff. They will also develop promotions and events that coincide with the academic calendar, such as extended hours and high-energy meals during exam weeks.
"Metz is unique because we partner with each one of our schools to find out what makes them unique and then cater our program to that specific location. A lot of the larger companies try to implement things at every school without taking into account the personality and spirit of each place and we are the exact opposite," said General Manager Josh Nowell.
Metz has committed to using available products within a 200-mile radius of the College including vegetables, fruits, eggs, bread and bakery items, as well as poultry and livestock from local farms. Salad dressing, soups, sauces, and more will all be made in-house.
Metz Culinary was established in 1994 by entrepreneur John C. Metz as a custom dining management service company with a “Guest First” philosophy serving a variety of market segments, including higher education, corporate offices, healthcare, and independent and public schools. Today, Metz Culinary Management is led by CEO Jeffrey C. Metz, who continues his father’s legacy. Metz currently ranks #15 on Food Management Magazine’s list of the Top 50 management Companies in the United States.
